QUESTION
- In the "asymptomatic" children of affected people, should a screening be 
performed? When?

ANSWER
- Yes. Screening should begin during the teenage years unless otherwise 
indicated. 

All first-degree and second-degree relatives as well as their own partner.of 
the affected individual should be screened for ARVC/D. This is used to 
establish the pattern of inheritance. 

Screening tests must include: family history, physical examination, 12-lead 
ECG,  ECG with modified protocol; SAECG; Holter monitoring; Conventional 
Echocardiography and Exercise Stress Test. The positive cases will do Cardiac 
MRI. If an affected person is identified with ARVC/D it is advised that their 
family should be seen.

PREGUNTA
- En hijos "asintomáticos" de personas afectadas, ¿un "screening" debe hacerse 
y cuando ?

RESPUESTA
- Sí. El "screening" debe comenzar durante la adolescencia a menos que se 
indique lo contrario. 

Todos los familiares de primer y segundo grado, así como la pareja del 
individuo afectado deben someterse a un screening para la M/DAVD. El mismo se 
emplea para establecer el patrón de herencia. 

Las pruebas para el screening incluyen: historia familiar, examen físico, ECG 
de 12 derivaciones, ECG con protocolo modificado, ECG de señales promediadas, 
monitoreo Holter, ecocardiografía convencional y prueba de esfuerzo. En los 
casos positivos se realizará IRM cardíaca. Si se identifica una persona 
afectada con M/DAVD se aconseja examinar a su familia también.
