A nonrandomized, retrospective comparison of  carvedilol versus
metoprolol or atenolol therapy for the purpose of prevention of post-
operative atrial fibrillation has been published by Merritt et al.
Post-operative atrial fibrillation occurred in 2 of 26 patients (8%)
who received carvedilol compared to 28 of 89 patients (31.5%) of
those who received metoprolol or atenolol (p < 0.05)..
