In order to answer this question, one must know the following:
1. What is the expected event rate in the population being studied over
whatever follow-up time period is expected.
2. If one is performing a study evaluating the effect of a therapeutic
intervention, one must have an idea of the magnitude of reduction in the
event being studied expected as a result of the intervention.
